About Today's Sunset Times

The table above lists today's sunset times for popular cities around the world, computed in each city's local time zone for Sunday, May 31, 2026. Times are calculated using accurate astronomical algorithms (Astral library), accounting for latitude, longitude, and the local time zone.

The exact moment the sun sets depends on where you are on Earth — closer to the equator, day length stays close to 12 hours year-round, while higher latitudes see dramatic seasonal swings of many hours from one season to the next. Day length (the time between sunrise and sunset) reflects how long the sun is above the horizon today.

Use the alphabet filter above to jump to cities starting with a specific letter, or switch to sunrise times for the opposite event. Want sunrise and sunset for a specific city? Click any city name above for a detailed local time page.

FAQ — Sunset Times (P Cities)

Common questions about this page — answers customized for the data shown above.

Sunset time is determined by your latitude, longitude, and the local time zone, plus the Earth's axial tilt and orbit around the sun. Cities closer to the equator have less seasonal variation in sunset times, while high-latitude cities can swing by hours across the year. Times shown here are computed for the current calendar date in each city's local time zone.

Times are computed with the Astral astronomical library, which uses the same algorithms that almanacs and weather services rely on. Accuracy is typically within a minute of the official local sunset. Atmospheric refraction at the horizon, mountains, and weather may shift the visible sunset a few minutes either way — see weather forecasts for local conditions.

The table above shows cities starting with the letter P marked as 'most popular' or 'popular' in our city database. For the full list of cities you can look up directly, see all cities on Time.so. Each city has its own dedicated page with sunrise/sunset year-round.

Polar and sub-polar cities can have days with no sunrise or sunset (polar day and polar night) — those entries are omitted because the sunset event simply doesn't occur on that date. Smaller cities are also excluded from this curated list; use the full city directory to look up any city.

The sunrise times page mirrors this one for the opposite event. Both pages share the same A–Z navigation, so you can jump between them while keeping your alphabetic filter.

Day length is the elapsed time between sunrise and sunset — the period when the sun is above the horizon at that location. It's longest near the summer solstice and shortest near the winter solstice, with the swing growing larger the farther you are from the equator.
